Earth Moving

We had an earth mover guy here last Thursday and Friday. He had a small track hoe and a dump truck on site to add drain rock around the foundation walls and to grade the slopes around the house. He also installed the crawlspace access wells and the vent wells.

He delivered two truck loads of recycled asphalt for our driveway (the price was really good), and he trucked off about six loads of dirt from the giant pile.

The grade from the house to the lawn on the west side is problematic so we're going to build a little deck there to make the transition work better.

Here is the north side of the house after grading.

Here's the west side of the house after grading.

Here's the south side of the house after grading.

We had the track hoe level the south side of the yard as well.

  1. What are you going to put in the hole in the ground on the west side?
And does the little window on the south side go into Leo's bedroom?
Are you going to seed the west side's grading or just let nature do it.

    1. * The hole in the ground on the west side is where the mini-deck will go to transition to the lawn.
      * The little window on the south side is the master bathroom window.
      * We will seed the lawn, but we might not get to that for a while.

  2. concerning the hole - won't the rain runoff still go into it?

    1. We have gravel around the foundation of the house. And don't forget that we have a really big French drain along the west side of the house, too. We are not concerned. ^_^

So, in 6-8 months the rat hole blog will become obsolete. in about 2 years the babies baron blog will become less desirable for the spawn. Does this mean the Pickles and Booze blog will take precedence? Jacobs Blog and vasectomies just does not do it for me. Perhaps a What Ben? blog.
