Fence: Part 1 - Property Line

I was finally able to find time to string the property line for the fence today! Hooray!

I clamped a piece of wood to my ladder and screwed in a screw-eye so I could hang a plumb-bob above the property stake at the end of the driveway. Then I pulled a string from the end of the driveway to the neighbor's fence post at the rear of our lot (at distance of about 216 feet). The string was six feet in the air so I had to use the plumb-bob to locate the line onto the ground.

But first I had to trim away some of he hedge so I could actually see the ground. I'll eventually be moving the hedge plants in this area to the end of the driveway where the plants are a bit stunted. I really should have done that first, but... I don't really have the time right now to be digging holes and transplanting large shrubs.

After locating the property line, I located the point where the fence will stop and return to fence on the opposite side of the driveway. Our plans are to install a 16' steel swing gate across the driveway. I again used the ladder to run a string from the fence across to the hedge.

Now I have two strings and five stakes locating the fence corner. And all this is under the hedge.

My plans are to use Oz-Post spikes to install the posts. I'll try to post some drawings soon.
